The Perio Protect Method®

The Perio Protect Method® is a minimally invasive, comprehensive gum disease treatment. It is backed by technology, and the results are proven through research.

Where Other Periodontal Cleaning Methods Fall Short

Brushing, rinsing, and flossing are important. But these efforts fail to reach deep below the gum line where bacteria thrive—in the periodontal pockets.

Traditionally, deep cleanings, known as root planing and scaling or surgery, have been required to reach deep into the pockets to treat advanced gum disease.

Scaling involves numbing the gums and then scraping and smoothing the tooth surface to remove bacteria to prevent them from adhering.

Surgery traditionally requires cutting the tissues to lift a flap to clean the root surfaces. These processes must often be repeated over multiple visits, which can be frustrating and painful and invite harmful bacteria into the new wounds.

Antibiotics are sometimes prescribed to fight bacteria. While immediate results can be promising, they are often only temporary. Over-prescription can compromise their long-term efficacy.

The Perio Protect Method Explained

Perio Protect is doctor-prescribed and patient-applied. When you receive your custom Perio Trays, your dental team will show you how to place a small amount of prescription medicine in each tray. You wear it for just minutes each day. Your dentist will also design a treatment plan specifically for you, as each patient’s duration and frequency vary.

The trays are designed with a patented seal to place and hold medication where it is most effective—at the site of infection deep below the gum line. A low concentration of hydrogen peroxide gently and thoroughly cleanses the periodontal pockets, combatting bacteria, whitening your teeth, and freshening your breath.

For some patients, the noninvasive Perio Trays™ reduce the need for surgical intervention. For others, they can be a potent complement to traditional treatment methods, helping to ensure a more successful outcome.

While there is no “cure” for gum disease, it can be managed with daily treatment to prevent pathogenic bacteria from recolonizing. When the desired results have been achieved, your dentist will revise your treatment plan to maintain the results.

The Perio Protect Method is an appealing, minimally invasive option for advanced periodontitis and early-stage gum disease.
